Space: Above and Beyond

I was wondering if anybody else remembered watching and enjoying this classic Fox sci-fi series? I believe it was initially aired in the States around 1995/96 before being prematurely cancelled by those Muppets in charge of programming at Fox.

in the UK it was shown on BBC and possibly before that Sky.

It was a good series. An R1 boxset is either already out or coming out in the near future.

Fox are arseholes. apparently this show had stronger ratings than Babylon 5 and the Star Treks that were going at the time.

The region 1 box-set was released nationwide in November 2005 after being available as part of a best buy exclusive deal.

Apparently you're right it did have good ratings although being the most expensive science fiction television series of all time (and least at the time it was) they expected fantastic ratings. I think you'll find that Babylon 5 and Star Trek were not expected to get the same ratings because they were on cable channels as opposed to network television. At least that's my understanding of it.

I received my box-set just before Christmas and the series is just as good as I remember after all this time. CGI looks dated now but in my humble opinion it still looks good. You can see the makers of Battlestar Galactica 2004 have clearly taken notes And used it as an inspiration.

I still think it's a crying shame that the series wasn't renewed for a second season especially after that cliffhanger ending. I'd love to see a TV movie or mini-series continuing things.
