This looks cheesy. Dramatisation of 9/11, directed by Oliver Stone starring Nicholas Coppola, Maria Bello, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Hopefully a return to form for Stone.

I'm watching this because I'm a fan of Nicolas Cage. Do I expect it to be good though? Maybe. Am I urging to watch this film. No. I won't be able to sit through it seeing how these poor firemen are working so hard. Working so hard while believing they were attacked by the "bad guys".

And whatever other people's opinion might be about the whole 9/11 subject, I'm not going through an endless discussion about this again.

OK, just saw the trailer...

It looks damn well shot! Really looking forward to this. However... this whole tell-my-wife-I love her-crap goes on my nerves.

Also the insert at the end of the trailer:
"The World Saw Evil That Day"

As if people weren't dying of bombs everyday in many other parts of the world.

Are you telling me these two firemen who were under all the wreckage saw love on that day?

I agree on the other parts btw.
They WERE attacked by Bad Guys, but not everyone of them was an arab (or muslim) as they were led to believe: some of the criminals behind this attack were most likely white as snow... or they at least knew about it and didnt prevent it.

That's why I said it looked really cheesy. I was half-expecting it to have been written by the hack screenwriter who wrote the the flag-waving nausea-inducing scripts for Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor and We Were Soldiers. He writes really bad cheesy dialogue (eg all the crap spurted by Jon Voight in Pearl Harbor and crap from SPR like "We can't let a mother lose all five of her sons, we have to bring this man home.") and really contrived situations like Voight's Roosevelt getting up from his wheelchair and walking.

Didn't stop Michael Moore from creating that manipulated shitfest Fahrenheit 9-11 (I'm refering to the first 2/3rds about all the fucking conspiracy theories about Saudis and all that rubbish - the last 1/3 dealing with the treatment of the soldiers is genuinely good) and making a fuckton of dough off all the blind liberal hippies who were reeled in. I don't see why Hollywood producers can't do the same.

In the case of Fahrenheit 9-11, it's the same. You may think it was just an attempt to convince people not to re-elect Bush, but it was just a money making exercise by Moore. He's a genius at manipulating people.

Thats one hell of a statement.

They are not bad guys at all. Killing thousands of innocent people does not make them bad at all, and they dont deserve to burn in eternal hell for their crimes and I am sure it says somewhere in their ridiclous religious lives to kill people by planes in such evil ways.

Yeah all them people in the towers deserved to be killed in such hideous ways and them great blokes in the planes were great people, who deserve medals for mass murder. If they are not bad then I dont know what is, Hitler I guess was a great bloke too.

I just saw the trailer and on the one hand:

1. Oliver Stone is the perfect choice for a conspiracy theory
2. He's American and some how it seems right an American should be directing
3. Nicolas Cage is a very good actor
4. It looks well made

But on the other hand:

1. Nicolas Cage like Tom Cruise is a face and that somehow doesn't seem right
2. Something doesn't seem right equally to me making a drama out of such a subject. Still it's been done hundreds of times before: Schindler's List for example

Oliver Stone has yet to fail me (except for "Heaven and Earth") I'm looking forward to seeing this. I even liked "Alexander" and "Natural Born Killers".

NBK was a hideous waste of talent. UNwatchable, repellent trash.

But normally I admire Stone's work (JFK, Born on the 4th of July, Platoon, Salvador). It's about time he returns to form. Nixon was his last great movie and that was 11 years ago.

Agreed, utterly rubbish film, as was U-Turn and Alexander.

IMO that was Lame Stone. Not bad but average for him.

NBK and especially the DC are very OTT but lots of fun. Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis give great performances. IMO it's one of Stone's best.
