Star-studded cast for ‘90 Mins’

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13:

Malaysian filmmakers may join the "Ivy League" of Hollywood glitterati with 90 Mins, a football movie with some hilarious surreal on-pitch moments next year.

90 Mins will be released in July in conjunction with World Cup 2006 and is jointly-produced by Malaysian production house, Rishi Creations Sdn Bhd and India’s P.K. Productions.

The action comedy will be directed by Bollywood’s Iqbaal Rizzvi who will be assisted by local director Syed Azidi.

90 Mins boasts a local and international cast, with Bollywood veteran Jackie Schroff and Jimmy Shergill (of Mohabattein fame) and Malaysia’s Harith Iskander, Shamser, Nurfazura and Syanie.

If everything works out, 90 Mins will receive an added international boost with the inclusion of foreign actors.

According to Rishi Creations Sdn Bhd adviser Ruhani Abdul Rahman, the film producers were in the midst of negotiating with Hollywood biggie Danny Devito, Hong Kong action hero Jackie Chan and sultry Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla.

"We’re still waiting for Jackie’s response. So far, he’s confirmed that he isn’t committed to any engagements during the shooting period," said Ruhani, adding that production was targeted for early February.

The location will be in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Genting Highlands.

The producers are keen to distribute 90 Mins internationally similar to Bend it like Beckham.

The movie revolves around two school football teams which are eyeing for a whopping prize money to get a school started.

I wonder if this is the project he was talking about at the Golden Rooster celebrations when he said he would like to make a small scale independent film?

"90 minutes" was said to be made before the WC2006, starring Jackie and Danny DeVito as rival football coaches.

Now, that the WC is almost over, I don´t think this project is going to be made and as far as I know, Jackie once said that he won´t be in this movie...
