How big is your equipment ?

Post by tom2681 »

No, not that one you perverts ! :D

How big is your computer screen ?

Brand / Technology (LCD or CRT) / Advertised Screen Size / Real Screen Size / Desktop resolution / Refresh Rate

Mine:
LG / CRT / 19" / 17.7" / 1152x864 / 100 hz.

Just curious... :)

Double entendres ahoy! :D

Apple/LCD/20" wide/1680x1050/75Hz (I think that's the default value given for LCDs. I think its response time is 8 or 10 ms, though)

My brother's got my old CRT, which I do occasionally pine for. That's a Samsung as well, 19", 160x1200 at 85Hz. If he drops the res to 1280z1024 he can get 100Hz, which looks spiffy :D He runs it alongside a Sony 17" LCD at 1280x1024 in a dual-display format (he's a 3D modeller and says he needs it. I say he wants to run Counter Strike on two screens :P)

But I've got widescreen now, and I don't look back :P

17 inch Iiyama, CRT I think (Old style monitor, not one of those new flat ones)

It's Ok I guess, but I'd like a new one. But this one still works fine and has good colours and stuff, so I'll keep it till it breaks down or something...

TFT/LCD doesn't work very well yet.
We're all better off sticking with CRTs for the time being IMO. :)

At school we have some TFTs which are pretty good quality though. I'll see if I can steal one when I go back there in 2 weeks... :D

To get CRT-equivalent quality TFTs you have to pay a lot more than just these £150-ish prices that a lot of TFTs are going for.

£500-£600 for a 20" LCD is the first place you get the kinda equivalent.
A little less for lower screen sizes.

There is a difference between LCD and TFT, so if you are buying, bear that in mind. LCD is much better.

It'd look terrible!
Gameplay would be class as always, but you'd soon pine for a smaller screen :D

Philips / 17" / CRT / 1024*768 / 85Hz.

I'm satisfied with it, don't need a new/better one.

DELL / 20" / LCD / 1600x1200 / (lcd's don't "feature" refresh...)

And for me it's been years since I could use a CRT. LCD's are just so much sharper and the space they save on my desk is huge! :D
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
