Maddamme Tussauds Nativity waxwork...

Post by grim_tales »

What did everyone think of this? If you havent been to see it, you must have seen pictures. ;)

Now I'm not religious (probably even an agnostic/atheist), but IMO its' more than a trifle tasteless to compare some insignificant (in the grand scheme of things, IMO) celebrities like Posh and Becks to Mary and Joseph (!) - if thats' what they meant.

On the other hand maybe the artists were trying to show them as being relevant to young people, and "icons" like some celebs are today, or something?

Its' nothing new because in the 15th/16th centuries some Rennaissance artists would paint the Madonna and Child as contemporary Italians in their scenes.

So maybe its' the fact they've been portrayed as famous people that got some church leaders annoyed.

Discuss ;)

I initially thought it was a little offensive that Posh and Becks were being held at such superficial high regard but then i realised they'd added Tony Blair and George Bush as 2 of the 3 Wise Men so i just sat back laughed and figured it was obvious that the artists were just taking the piss.

I didnt know they'd put them in :D In that case it is funny (putting Bush there is) ;) I just heard it was Becks as Joseph, Posh as Mary and Kylie Minogue (!!) as the Angel, didnt know there was anyone else.
Some people should lighten up then if it was just meant as a bit of fun ;)
