Le Samourai: Criterion question

Post by grim_tales »

Is the film supposed to be in Black and White? According to Criterion's specs I think (and the ones given on Pacific) the film is B&W. But when I saw a VHS some years ago it was definitely in colour (OK it wasn't a very colourful film, shot in steely grey/blue).

Uhm... No, it should be in colour. Criterion says it's colour. DVDBeaver has screenshots in colour (http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReview/lesamourai.htm).

I think you need a system check. :D For instance having S-Video input through a scart connector where there's no S-Video support (on the Telly) will result in black and white. Likewise playing back NTSC on a system that don't support NTSC could result in a black and white picture.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!

OK, thanks. I got confused because the DVD Pacific specs say B&W.

Aha... so you hadn't already bought it and was confused because there was no colours then :D

I'm thinking about getting this myself... mostly for the extras, I have the French disc already - and their extras are... in FRENCH?! :D
