Cropping on Bond UEs?

Post by starschwar »

I understand that there's an issue with Goldeneye being cropped... does this affect any of the others? For reference, I plan on getting the R1 versions.

How bad is it? Slight cropping, or something along the lines of pan and scan?

Licence to Kill was undermatted(?) on the previous release - you could see the edge of the frame. It's not a problem on the UE so I wouldn't consider it "cropped" as such. AFAIK, only Goldeneye and A View to a Kill are noticeably cropped.

And then it's a few points not 2.35:1 to 1.85:1 or 2.00:1 extreme. I'm not saying it's acceptable just putting it in context.

I see... I'll be upgrading GE from a 4:3 vhs, so no major loss then. I don't own avtak at all, for that matter.

I think LTK has gone from 2.45 to 2.35 or something like that.

Trust me, it's perfectly framed.

Hmm... any other problems with the UEs I should be aware of?

None of the UK Discs have Mono/Stereo if applicable and only have 5.1 remixes. TND: UE UK has an odd red tinge added:

It's not known if this affects the R1 as it's not out until next month.

I would've picked up GE, TND and TWINE but the SE's are already fine and I only want to upgrade all 3 or none of them, TND is clearly worse!

Thanks for all the helpful advice. I think i'll just wind up getting all the R1 UE sets. With the exception of Die Another Day, i'll be upgrading from old vhs, or no copy at all.
