Favourite musicals?

Post by BiscLimpkit »

What are your favourite musical films? Excluding Bollywood, I quite like the following:

Phantom of the Opera
The Producers (new one with Will Farrell)
Rent
Happiness of the Katakuris

Favourite is such a malleable term. I wouldn't class them as being my personal favourite films, but in the musical genre I would list Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and Singin' In the Rain just cos I grew up watching 'em; my dad's a big fan of those two. He liked Leon as a film anyways, but it got extra marks for the Gene Kelly referencing :D
And like Slasher, I suppose Aladdin and The Lion King get in there too. :)

South Park gets a vote too, as does Little Shop of Horrors; the former actually makes it onto my actual 'favourite films' list as well, so thanks gasteropod for reminding me :D

The Blues Brothers, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Band Wagon, The Music Man. These are all good musicals.

Would people stop doing that. The Blues Brothers is, yes, a film I should stick in this category as well
*goes off to check DVDs for other musicals*

I'd go for:

Singin' In The Rain
Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
The Lion King
Beauty and The Beast
Mary Poppins
Wizard of Oz (if that counts)
Joseph (1999) (well it has been "filmed" - there's a version with Donny Osmond)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)
