Criterion ofLa Haine in April for RRP $40. Extras sound pathetic in comparison to Optimum 3-discer, I'll pass. First ever DVD release in R1 land I believe. Nice cover though.
New, restored high-definition digital transfer
New English-language audio commentary by writer-director Mathieu Kassovitz
Optional Dolby Digital 5.1 track
Video introduction by Jodie Foster
Social Dynamite, a new video featurette on the film’s banlieue setting, including interviews with sociologists Sophie Body-Gendrot, Jeffrey Fagan, and William Kornblum
Stills gallery of behind-the-scenes photos
Theatrical trailers
New and improved English subtitle translation
PLUS: A new essay by film scholar Ginette Vincendeau and notes by acclaimed director Costa-Gavras
and MORE!!
Fantastic film, I'm getting the Optimum 3-discer version, I did have the previous version which had hardcoded subtitles, but sold it to get this version.

The 3-discer is just the old 1-discer with two extra discs in a steelbook with a booklet, so you'll still have the forced subs.
I bet that the Criterion was taken from the exact same Studio Canal HD master as the Optimum.

Indeed that what I thinking Criterion as taken it from
La Haine: 10th Anniversary Special Edition has subs burnt in
La Haine: Ultimate Edition has player generated subtitles

The English subtitles aren’t optional – though as they’re electronic I imagine some players or computers should be able to remove them. I can’t imagine many people wanting to do so unless they are very fluent in French. Apparently even native speakers find the film’s plethora of street slang hard going.

A fan of the film maybe?
I know, but still... she wasn't involved in the making of this film as far as I know. I'd rather be introduced to it by the director or writer. Why would she be more qualified than me to intoduce this film. Because she is famous? (Duh...!)
You own the film on DVD, why don't you watch it for yourself and then decide whether it's worth picking up the 3-disc UE or not?
You always seem to chuck in tosh like Fearless (let's be honest here, it's a good popcorn flick, nothing more.) but leave REAL films like La Haine, Fallen Angels, Happy Together to collect dust.

And every time she stars in a foreign film (non-french ), she dubs her own voice in the french dub.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".
