Interestingly this article explains they're going a different route in The States. Instead of selling Digital STBs "Digital to Analogue Converters" (aka - DACs) are being added to TVs to convert the signal from a digital to an analogue one.

It's an interesting idea but one I'm glad we're not doing here. What's the point if it's analogue quality?

It seems you can also buy Digital TVs (like our Freeview TVs) too.
