Finally -

It's great to see a 2 disc SE. Fingers crossed an HD-DVD is also released too.

Isn't the current release a 2 disc special edition? I'm sure mine is but I can't remember & I'm not at home so I can't check.

The original is from 2000. It may have a commentary by Gibson and a 30min featurette (which I bet is just a fluff piece), but it is LONG overdue for a remaster.

DVD authoring and compression techniques is much better now than it was seven years ago.

The compression was not the problem, the print was. It was total shit, like it was 50 years old and had been kept in a dustbin. I only watched this the other night acctually, HD DVD come to pappa!

USA got 1 dvd, UK got 2 dvds, not that it needed it, they had a 30 min featurette on the second dvd, which could have easy fit on dvd 1. It just sounds better when they call it 2 dvd, knobbers that they are.

Like sooo many other idiot 2 dvd sets! Lost Boys springs to mind, film dvd 1 is about 3GB!!!!! second dvd is even less! yet they stuck the 6GB on 2 seperate dvds and called it a 2 dvd special edition, knobs could eay stick it all on one duel layere dvd.

Technically yes but not really. On R1 they crammed it all on 1 disc everywhere else they put the 30 Minute making of on to a second disc. It's not a special edition though, all it has is a commentary and making of.

As Eva says it's long overdue an overhaul.

Maybe PAL needs a wee bit more space. To cram on 3 hours plus 30 minutes is a lot to expect of a DL DVD.

That does annoy me.

They claimed on UK R2 they couldn't fit DTS on to Road to Perdition (the R1 has it) yet I checked and there was plenty of room.
