What DVD to get?

Post by grim_tales »

Hey,

Decided to order a coupla DVDs as I havent for a while, to celebrate moving :D  Not sure what to get, maybe a boxset or HKL or something?

Simpsons Season 5 R1
Pink Panther Cartoon set R2
Spiderman 2 R1 (still dont know if its RCE or not which puts me off) ;)
Warriors 2 HKL

I'd also like to get HOFD: SE at some point. :) Don't want to have to get Red Dwarf again (its missing for some reason) :( :?

Well I'd avoid Warriors Two if only for the remixed audio. Wait for the Fox release.

The Panther toons are overmatted 16:9

Can't really help anymore than that because I wouldn't buy any of them...

Go get Gladiator! :D

I know the Pink Panther toons are 16/9 but AFAIK there are no plans for a R1 set.... (you said so yourself). I'd still like it to come down in price actually. Despite the 16/9, the toons are apparently the best they will ever look.. :)

Won't the Fox release have dubtitles?

Mark I might The Simpsons or Panther toons with HOFD SE. (While theyre reformatted, its currently the only way to see them on DVD). I have signed a petition at TVShowsonDVD.com to release Season sets of TPP show (the ones with the Inspector and Aardvark in). I even asked MGM who have been less than useless.

On Digital TV, theres a channel called Bommerang who claim to show "The New Pink Panther Show" (the ones with the aardvark), unfortunately its the travesty from the 1990's, with re-done animation and music, Pink panther even speaks :? Arses
Theres some good 'toons from when I was a kid on that channel tho, and the 40's Tom and Jerry toons and stuff :)

I'll keep The Simpsons for later on :D

Can't decide between -

Pink Panther toons box set (cheap at Play)
Looney Tunes Vol 2 R1 box set (more expensive, likely to get whacked by customs). :( According to some reviews on Amazon they've altered the packaging a bit so the discs inside arent in a digipack but individual slimcases (like FS's Police Story Trilogy) or something? :?
I'm sure it'll be OK but it has more chance of wear than a digipack does.
I don't know if I'd get a "first" LT pressing with better packaging or not, it wasnt released that long ago (Dec '04).
