Since my monitor has crapped out on me (one of the colours is gone (red)), I'm looking at new monitors to buy.
I was first thinking of picking up a 22 inch, as that seems big enough for me, but then someone mentioned to me that 24 inch is FullHD so would be more futureproof and all that, which kinda makes sense...
So do you guys have any advice on what the best HD 24 inch TFTs are!?
I was considering buying a HP w2408h, although it's pretty damn expensive (470 euros or something)
I will buy it next month though, as I'll be gone the next few weeks to my girlfriend's house, so maybe prices have dropped a little bit more next month...
What's a good-quality TFT 24inch screen for bothPC and 360?

I've got a Samsung 225BW (22 inches) which is perfect.
I'm sure the 24" Samsung will be more of the same.
My advice is:
Go for the Samsung 245B or the LG L246WH.
They're both cheap (400 - 450€) and they're both good.

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Samsung 24" use TN 6bit panels which are rubbish (in comparison to other panel technologies), don't bother.
TN panels have inferior colour reproduction and viewing angles. Their selling point is low response time and economic price, making them popular with gamers. If you want to watch films on the monitor then don't get a TN panel (unless you have to for budgetary reasons). The response times is rubbish sales point; with modern 8ms LCDs you won't notice any of the blurring that plagued older LCDs.
You also don't want a TN panel if you do a lot of graphics design or the like (i.e. working in Photoshop).
Dells use 8bit SVA and S-IPS panels (depending on the batch), which are ideal for film viewing and graphics design.
Also note that ALL 22" monitors, regardless of manufacturer, use TN panels.

Thanks guys
Arent all the non-TN panels very expensive?
I was kinda hoping to get a good quality 24 inch screen for under 500 euro, tbh.
Like I said, I am hearing good things about the HP 24 inch scree, and I just went to take a look at it in the store, and it looks absolutely stunning, but I couldnt help noticing that the contrast is only 1000:1 ...
I've heard very mixed things about the Dell screen, and basically they pretty much score around an 8 average. Also, Dell's customer service (at least here in Holland) isnt all that great, I hear. But I'll take a closer look on that option, as well as the Samsung option. Also, Toshiba and LG are in the price-range I'm thinking off...
Also, is there any news on predicted pricedrops for the non-TN pannels for the coming months!?

I've got a Samsung 22" SM226BW & although it uses a TN panel, it has an excellent picture. I don't watch films on it or do much graphics editing though - just the odd bit of graphic design for XBMC & the odd website.
I mainly bought it for the 2ms response time because I hate LCD panels that have higher response time (& before anyone says anything, yes I CAN tell the difference). I mostly use my monitor for gaming & Internet use, so it is excellent for my needs.
If you're using your monitor mainly for 360, I can recommend a TN panel.

Nah, it will mainly be for pc use, nut not for gaming-pc use
I will probably hook up a 360 to it when I buy one, cause I'll probably buy the new HD TV later...
I'm still looking at the Samsungs, but in the store the Samsungs I looked at looked a little bit less impressive than the HP w2408h, and from some reviews I've read about a simular HP widescreen, many of it's raving reviews came from people who first had a Samsung, and traded in for the HP and are much more impressed by it.
Anyway, I will buy the new screen next month, as I will be gone to my girl's house from tomorrow onwards to january...
Friday I'm in Belgium btw, so maybe there screens are a little bit cheaper.

...or... you could steal Toms girlfriend, cause apparently, she has all the money in the world!EvaUnit02 wrote:I use a 22" 226BW Samsung myself, great monitor considering the price. My PC is hooked up via the DVI and 360 via VGA. But if I had all the money in the world, then I'd buy a 30" Dell.
Ah well... at the moment the HP is my personal favourite, but I'll have till next month to decide, so I might still change my mind. Kinda depends on what the monitors are going to do, pricewise and all that...
