Australia plans tough web rules

OMG:

This is a good idea but it should be an opt in not opt out service

Adults should be allowed to have uncensored access without the need to ask for it. A better approach would be a mass advertising campaign to tell everyone they now have this option to opt in.

The likelihood of shit like this ever happening in NZ is extremely low, the government is far too liberal. FFS we legalised prostitution and civil unions, which give same sex couples the same rights as those whom are married (straight people can them get too, lord knows why you'd prefer that over a marriage though. For one the union wouldn't be internationally recognised.).

It would never happen here too. The government probably wants it to but we have so many Human Rights EU rules I doubt it would get through parliament.

Conversely Australia is one of the most conservative governments (next to America) in the English speaking world.

I'm not sure about civil union but Australia did also legalise prostitution. That would never happen here. I guess some may opt for civil union as in their mindset it's less strong.

I doubt a gay marriage or civil union would be acknowledged in many countries.
