£700(!) That's overkill. Xmas is far too commerical. I spent less than £50 I think. Mind you I don't have a big family. A couple of well-chosen presents is all we really need.

I tried to spend a little less this time as I'm saving for Japan, I probably spent around £50.

I bought very nice chopstics and rice cups and a pretty picture of Fuji-san to my parents. And some other picture to my grandparents. Something like 50€ in total.
Yeah, and bucketloads of dvds for myself

About £50-75 I think. I saved a fair bit by getting half in India.
People spend insane money. My Mum included and she then gets stressed every January. We've told her not to spend so much but she never listens. £700 for one day, is nothing compared to when people get married.
p.s - How come you spent nothing Iron Monkey?

Re: How much did you spend on presents?
Not that much YET, but I already agreed to pay part of the new tv for my parents-in-law (together with my GF and her sister).
Also bought my girlfriend something cheap and her sister a sweater, but my girlfriend will get something more, and my sis-in-law will also probably get something extra (the sweater was 15, while we usually spend 25 bucks on eachother), and for my GF it's usually 50 bucks or over, depending on if there is anything worth buying.
Haven't gotten anything myself yet. Didn't have much to ask. Next year my girlfriend will visit HK again with her family, and I don't think I'll join, so I think I'll just ask her to put my Xmas present 'on hold', so she can buy me some stuff in Hong Kong, like cheap artbooks again and such.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

The iPhone isn't as clever as people think, there are loads of other Smartphones on the market, many before the iPhone came along. The iPod Touch though, being categorised as an MP3 Player, is unique and an impressive thing. There are no other MP3 Players that have an App Store and Wireless Internet access.saltysam wrote:i must say, this ipod touch seems a clever piece of kit
I'd prefer to have a sim card in it too and that means the iPhone but as I much prefer Google Phones. I'm getting one of those, the next batch of models are due Feb-March. I'm upgrading then. My Smartphone is ancient (nearly 5 years).
