Who cares what others think for gods sake!

MTV editing bollocks, that is their opinion. Ussually a wrong opinion as they have no clue what they are on about, anything with fast cuting = MTV nowadays as they have such a poor film vocabulary so just say It is MTV! like yeah MTV came and went like 20 years ago you divs! times move on, sheep dont.

See it yourself, dont be one of the pathetic sheep who listen to others opinions and then think that way as they have no brain. You will end up like a Brad, and no one wants that.

I said "from what I've heard". As in to contibute to conversation (since I haven't seen the film, I can only speak of expectations and other people's opinions) and hopefully get comments for / against. Has nothing to do with what I expect from the movie. I'm gonna see it as soon as it arrives a theater near me.

I've been preaching years about how people should stop listening to others, and watch movies that they find insteresting. That's why Romero's words sounded so familiar. Hence, wise man.

You make a post highlighting that early opinion has stated the action in Ninja Assassin is edited poorly and laced with unconvincing CGI blood, Grim responds with an "oh dear" that is merely an affirmation that such criticial comments are not encouraging signs, then romero jumps down grim's throat with another one of his incessant unenlightening rants regarding making assumptions about upcoming films, then you wade in like some sort of romero cheerleader. If you fail to see the hypocrisy in that then you're not nearly as "wise" as you think you are!

Grim's second reply ("I've seen enough choppy editing and quick cutting in fights to know it pisses me off thankyou") made it seem like he has decided not to watch the film because some people thing it's poorly edited. That's what Romero assumed and based his reply on, as far as I understood. Whether Romero's reply was correctly targeted or not, it was a very good point (don't let others decide what you watch), and basically the exact same thing that I've been saying... to the extent that I could almost swear it's a quote from me from this forum (even with my favourite word "sheep"). Hence, wise words.

Shing, you often tend to assume everything I post is meant to back up my personal opinions (which, in case of Ninja Assassin, I don't even have) even when my purpose is to contribute to conversation (which is, when good, not about defending own beliefs but sharing good points, and when best, going against own beliefs). I don't know if it's common elsewhere but at least in my high school on philosophy lessons we had weekly conversation, where students would have to defend a view/philosophy that they don't personally agree with. No surpise philosophy became my favorite subject very soon (although I don't give a shit about Platon) as I love taking an outsider view on things (you can see how I constantly make fun of myself on this forum, especially by going a little over the top with everything JP/kawaii to enhance the often hilarious image an outsider, someone who hasn't quite digested the kawaii philosophy yet, would get).

I'm sorry if the above sounds like defending, it's not meant as so. I'm just so bloody misunderstood (where is the cry me a river icon?)

I didnt mean I'd decided not to see it but it per se but yes your comment did make me think its poorly edited, if the consensus is it is, its more likely to be so I would think.

I think you misunderstood my point Hung. Whether you were stating a personal opinion or not, if you have a modicum of common sense then you must have been aware that when you highlight those points (MTV editing/CGI Blood) then it's going to encourage critical comments, as most people dislike rapid-fire editing and dodgy cartoon bloodletting. A comment like that is made to stir up debate/comments that are hung upon assumptions: you either assume those stylistic choices are going to be successful or not, and ergo add or detract from the viewing experience. Grim never expressed an opinion on Ninja Assassins either, just an opinion that he dislikes those specific filmmaking techniques, and yet romero took that as a statement that he was going to avoid Ninja Assassins like the plague. You incited Grim to make an assumption about Ninja Assassin then indirectly criticised him for doing so when you backed up romero's half-baked rant.

Romero's post wasn't a wise one, it was a dumb rant padded out with a mind-numbingly obvious observation like "it's your own opinion that counts!" Personally I'd like to write/read a more insightful and original comment on these boards before I start patting myself on the back about how clever I or anyone else on these boards are.

You're right, Grim did kinda become a victim here (and I went too far with the 'hence wise' joking). I know he didn't mean it as strongly as it came to sound, and that Romero's reply was partly hitting the wrong target. However, it was a good point as constantly I see people even on this forum only watching well know films recommended by others. I'm afraid a lot of people will never discover entire genres because of this. Myself I've had this experience. Three years back I was sure I could never enjoy exploitation movies. But ultimately I gave in, still sure that I would be wasting my time, and look what happened. I discovered I dig this stuff.

Many times I have watched a movie that every single comment on the net says is bad, and to my surpise discovered the film is in fact great. That's because my taste in my own, not that of others. And if I'd be listening to what others say, I would not only not discover these movies, I would not even discover my own taste in movies.

GC blood and fast editing don't sound great, that's true. It was intended as a slight warning. However, if you find the film otherwise interesting, definitely do watch it. Kitano's Zatoichi is full of CG blood, yet it's a great film. The new Bourne films are ruined with fast editing if you ask me, but most people love them. So it's not that simple.

I think Romero feels protective of this film as he's been sticking up for it over at dvdforums,he bit there as well when someone mentioned a bad review from CHUD

Hung makes a good point with his example of the Bourne films. While I'm not a fan of shaky cam there are other good aspects to Supremacy, the story, acting etc and the action is exciting despite shaky cam.
As a whole it's a very good trilogy.

 I do not feel protective in any way at all towards the film. I could not care if it crashes and burns or makes billions.

When I see it I will see for myself :D but I can tell you right now no "MTV Editing" is in the film, films were edited that way before MTV even existed
