Metal Gear Solid 4

Post by EvaUnit02 »

Here's the first pics of Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3?). Scans from Japanese premier gaming mag, Famitsu Weekly.

Cool, looks like we may be able to play as Big Boss again?

Awesome...! On the last picture, is the guy with the glasses Otacon? Should be him... because if the Big Boss appears as an old guy, MGS4 must be taking place in Solid Snakes era.

The official name of the game is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. It's the direct sequel to MGS2 and the final in that trilogy of games (the other instalments were MGS1&2), MGS3 belonged to a separate trilogy. So that old guy is indeed Solid Snake, rather than his father Big Boss.

Here's a summary of the MGS4 presentation at TGS2005.

You can view a streaming version of the TGS2005 trailer here. Kojima claims that it was rendered with in-game footage.

Supposedly live-rendered using the game engine - It looks amazing:-

If there's one game I buy a PS3 for, this is it.

Look like the same old pre rendered crap to me, when the real game comes out then talk about it. I detest these pathetic pre release promo's as the real games always looks crap compared to them.

Totally dude. It's all vapourware until it's actually released.

But I can't help but get excited when it comes to the Metal Gear Solid series (and not silly spinoffs like Acid or the horrid original MSX/NES Metal Gear games).

That means it was rendered using in game engine, thats doesnt mean its game footage :) its a cut away scene and games can do stunning quality cut scenes with ease.

Man, why not? I mean it's PS3 we're talking about here. I like the idea that they let Solid Snake return. Now we just need them to bring back David Hayter for his voice.

It's funny that game is set in the future (probably well after 2009 - when MGS2 was set, since Snake looks a bit old there) yet Solid Snake still has a mullet.

Damn right. David Hayter is Solid Snake in the english language, there is no alternative.

Konami recently insisted (again) the trailer is real time rather than pre-rendered.

15 minute gameplay walkthrough + commentary by Kojima (right-click>save link as). 367MB, 720p.

If there was only one reason to buy a PS3, this would be it.

Looks awesome.
Only saw 5 minutes orso as my pc is 'sick' (as in it constantly turns itself off with a "stop: 0x0000008e" error message... but wow... it looks cool from what I did see :)

If PS3 goes to 400 euro here in holland, or 500 with 2 games and a joypad, than I might pick one up, depending on how good half-Life 2, Pro Evo 2008 and GTA4 will be in, in comparison to the 360 versions.

Microsoft needs to make their console considerably cheaper, and fix the hardware issues... before I'll pick one up.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

You got get a JAP PS3 for 250 quid from SuccessHK. I may do this, they have 30 pounds shipping, seem good value to import from them. Heard good stuff about them from dcemu.co.uk site forums.

Improved cooling system too.

There's currently a $50USD price drop coming in the US very very soon.

The Elite's have been delayed for global launch (Europe/Australasia) for several months now, thre can't be no coincidence there dude.

Two heatsinks were added to the US Elites, no CPU shrinkage yet though. (smaller CPU = cheaper to manufacture, easier to cool)

All 360s have 3 year warranties now and all people whom had their 360's repaired outside their warranty period are getting refunded.

Get a US or Asian model, otherwise you'll regret not having Bluray Region A playback. All game region playback is region free and PSU is auto-multi-voltage.

I might get the following:
http://www.superufo.com/product_html/Pl ... ?aff_id=24

Which is looks reasonable, although in Oct, I'm going to Dubai, which they sell japanese ps3 the same model, My brother went there couple of weeks ago, and they was selling for £240 which is really good.

There was a price drop on the 60GB model in the US ya know, now it is $500. Give Gamestop.com a look, that's where I bought my US Gamecube from a few years back. Get which ever is the cheapest.

Oh yes, don't forget Play-asia too. Awesome deals on import software and peripheral hardware. I dunno bout their consoles though.
