Machete

Post by HungFist »

Seems like it's coming after all...

...and the word is Rodriques has cast tough guys Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin and Robert De Niro to co-star. Danny Trejo plays the title role of course.

Damn great cast.

Yeah after he has made the other 56735437 films he is apprently 100% making right now and over the next 5 years. So until then its 100% Bullshit, just like Tarentino and his 654179679 films in the pipeline.

Between the two of them they lie constantly, or more likley they are totally mis quoted and rumors turned into fact and made to look like bullshitters.

Once it has started filming, then get excited, until then forget about it.

I'd rather have Fahey than DeNiro for this kind of movie.

Robert De Niro hasn't been a tough guys for decades. The film looks okay at best to me. Rodriguez is very overrated, he's only made one decent film (Desperado). I've not seen Planet Terror though.

Yes.

Well, Machete is on all Planet Terror releases, but the other trailers are only in the Grindhouse cut.

Indeed I was :D so far its a crazy advertising campaign, and a one which is aimed at geeks and net fans, I cannot see it storming into the Box Office and making shedloads, still who cares as long as its a good film  so far the 4 or so trailers ahve all been so vastly different in style, hard to know what the film will be like.

Hopefully they use Trejo better than they did in Predators.

A) The bloodspray looked like CGI. Can I say "fuck that" on this forum? If not, I apologize.

B) Humorless. Maybe it's just a question of the content they chose for the "real" trailer, but the original commercial from GRINDHOUSE looked like it could be a fun tongue-in-cheek romp; this does not.

Looked like it could be fun as long as they keep it cartoonish and cut back on the sadism...

It looks like Fucking CGI Blood to me,
but hey sometimes Fucking CGI blood can be fun in some films (some!). As long as it is not a serious film it usually works for me, its when you see it in a drama, or some character piece that it stands out wayy to much for me (The Departed has a few CGI Blood shots! now they stood out wayy to much in that film). In a silly sci fi, horror etc... it can work well as hey it fits with the fun tones of these sorts of films many times.
