Ridley Scott's upcoming films.
Out this November (stateside) is A Good Year featuring Russell Crowe & Albert Finney.
London-based Investment expert Max Skinner moves to Provence to tend a small vineyard he inherited from his late uncle. As Max settles into this new chapter in his life, he encounters a beautiful California woman who also lays claim to the property.
Trailer. Right click > Save link as. Trailer makes it look really hokey. Should be decent at the very least though, even mediocre Ridley Scott films like White Squall and G.I. Jane are worth being seen at least once.
Currently filming:- American Gangster (2007), starring Russell Crowe & Denzel Washington. Supporting cast include mega hottie Carla Gugino and James Brolin's son Josh Brolin (goodie scientist from Hollow Man).
The film is based on a New York Magazine article by Mark Jacobson, which depicted the true story of Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas (Washington), who smuggled heroin in the caskets of soldiers killed in Vietnam. He was eventually caught by New York detective Richie Roberts (Crowe), who got Lucas to turn his talents toward catching the crooked cops and drug dealers who profited from his scheme.
Hi-res on-set photos of Crowe decked out in 1970's fashion.
This one sounds promising.

I watched the trailer and man that accent is indeed awful.bradavon wrote: What an awful English accent, exactly what most Hollywood film-makers think an English accent sounds like and Ridley Scott is friekin' English???
Matchstick Men in 2003 - terrific little film. In fact Kingdom of Heaven is sandwiched between low-key films, this and Matchstick Men. I'd hardly say that he hasn't made a low-key film in a while. He's not made a low key film for a while.

An opinion on A Good Year:-
I can't be bothered seeing this at theatres, it looks dull judging from the trailer. It'll be a DVD or even TV screening for me.a guy from TheDVDF wrote:Last night I went to my local to see A Good Year, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe as a city slicker named Max (!) who inherits a rundown vineyard in Provence. Now, there are some people who call Ridley a visionary. Others describe him as Britain's greatest director. I would most charitably describe him as uneven and A Good Year is, I can tell you, a jaw-droppingly inept effort, as embarrassing a night out as it's possible to think of without Rickey Gervais by your side. Crowe is woefully, hopelessly miscast - he seems to be impersonating Grant, both Cary and Hugh - and the whole thing falls flat when it should have been light and fluffy. Just appalling. I think maybe one decent movie in six is about Ridley's batting average.
