Title: Jacquou le Croquant

Director: Laurent Boutonnat (he's directed many of Mylène Farmer's MVs)
Actors: Gaspard Ulliel (A Very Long Engagement), Tchéky Karyo
Release date: 17/01/2007

Kinda like Gangs of New-York meets Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Trailer (25mb):

If you've got VobSub (included in the rar file), MPC or FFDShow, you can play this trailer with my fansubs. :D

Looks good IMO (so far).
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Most french people don't know what "Le Croquant" means, so I suppose you're right. :D

Haha, Tchéky Karyo. Can't act to save his life. Eg Wing Commander Movie.

What does it translate to? i.e - not literally.

Thanks for the trailer I'm downloading it.

Agreed. He always plays the same pissed off (because he can't act) character.

Jacquou is just a first name.
"Croquant" comes from the verb "Croquer", which means "to eat/devour".

If memory serves, "Les Croquants" is what peasants used to call the nobles in the 18th century (give or take a few hundred years :D ).

So: Jacquou the Noble (sort of).

Re: Tchéky Karyo:
He has a very limited range, but I think he was OK in stuff like Bad Boys, Kiss of the Dragon and Patriot.

Cheers Tom. Oh yeah he was good in Bad Boys, otherwise pah.

It reminded me of Rob Roy. It looks pretty good, if a little to sentimental.
